EP 41 | Conservation, Creative Storytelling Approaches, National Geographic & More w. Beverly & Dereck Joubert.
I am honored to be sharing a conversation I had with the amazingly talented duo Beverly & Dereck Joubert. Dereck and Beverly are award winning filmmakers, national geographic explorers in residence and wildlife conservationists who have been filming, researching and exploring africa for over 35 years.
Their work over the years has produced very well known documentaries like “Eye Of The Lepheard”, “Soul Of The Elephant” and many others have led them to winning 8 Emmy Awards, a Peabody Award and so many others.
Together they have worked together The Jouberts have made over 40 films for National Geographic, published 15 books, half a dozen scientific papers, and regularly written articles for National Geographic Magazine.
On this episode Beverly, Dereck and I discuss how they got started out in the photography and filmmaking industries, changes they have seen within the industry, how important it is to have an opinion on things happening in our world today, destructive values that governments have about wildlife, talk about the disconnect that younger generations have with wildlife and wild places, their creative process of storytelling and so so much more.
