Podcast With The Author Of "Denali" Ben Moon

EP 42 | The Importance of Networks & Relationships, Battling Cancer, Patagonia & More With Creative Ben Moon.

Ben Moon is a renowned photographer and filmmaker, widely recognized for his stunning landscape images and emotive storytelling. In this episode of the podcast, I had the pleasure of chatting with Ben about his journey as a photographer, his latest book “Denali”, and his approach to storytelling.

Ben’s love for photography began during his time as a professional rock climber. While on climbing expeditions, he would take photos of his fellow climbers and the breathtaking landscapes around him. He eventually turned his passion into a career, working with outdoor brands such as Patagonia, The North Face, and Black Diamond.

During our conversation, Ben spoke about his latest book “Denali,” a memoir of his friendship with his dog, Denali, and his battle with cancer. The book not only showcases Ben’s exceptional storytelling skills but also his vulnerability and authenticity.

When it comes to his approach to storytelling, Ben emphasizes the importance of authenticity and connection. He believes that the best stories come from a place of truth and vulnerability, and that the connection between the storyteller and their subject is key.

Ben’s experience with cancer has also impacted his outlook on life and photography. He shared with me how surviving cancer has made him more aware of the fragility of life and has driven him to create work that is meaningful and impactful.

For photographers and filmmakers starting out, Ben’s advice is to focus on telling authentic stories and not to get caught up in the technicalities of the craft. He encourages aspiring creatives to pursue their passions and to always be true to themselves.

In conclusion, my conversation with Ben was inspiring and informative. His passion for storytelling and his dedication to authenticity serve as an inspiration to creatives everywhere. I highly recommend checking out his work, including his latest book “Denali.”
